I discovered Alaska Glacial Mud Co. when I was scouting out new products for a spa day at home and really wanted to try their Mud Masque. I was born and raised for part of my childhood in Alaska and I know how pure the air and water is there so I figured a facial mask made from the clean earth of the Last Frontier would be a healthy treat for my skin. I contacted Alaska Glacial Mud Co. and they were awesome enough to send me the Vanilla-Lavender Mud Masque and an application brush to try out. The Mud Masque is made from the clay of the Copper River Delta which is the largest contiguous wetland on the Pacific Coast of North America and is home to gorgeous wildlife like bald eagles, moose, bears, and salmon. The Mud Masque also contains organic goodies like kelp, elderflower, cranberry and blueberry and is fortified with Vitamin E and B5. Each of these ingredients do different things such as moisturize, regenerate, and soothe. There are no parabens or synthetics so it is safe for your body. After I put the little one down for the night, I used the application brush to apply the mask and left it on for the instructed 15 minutes. Even though the mask was dry when it came time to remove it, my face wasn’t frozen like a lot of masks tend to do which was nice. When washing it off, the tiny granules of the clay exfoliate your skin so you’re not only getting the hydration of the clay but you’re also removing the dry, old layers. I have normal but sensitive skin and it didn’t cause any irritation (made sure to do a test patch first!) and after patting my face dry I noticed an immediate improvement in the softness of my skin and a healthy pink tone in my cheeks. I definitely felt a tightening in my pores which is always a good thing. I tend to breakout after using a new facial product but two days later my skin still has the rosy glow and feels super smooth and I have no irritations to report. I also applied it to my hands which became really chapped from the dry weather and it worked wonders on healing my cracked skin.
